We had our yard sale last weekend, and it was very successful. All the big stuff (furniture, electronics, and appliances) sold, except for the Home Theater system, which we can probably sell online. We even sold our weight bench, which was only a year old, but we figure we won't have the space for it after we move, and we should be able to lose weight while building and working on the land!
Shoppers weren't really interested in the home decorative items, like candle holders, figurines, and such. But I guess everyone has too much of that stuff already. We made almost $400 and sold everything on the first day of the sale! We were planning to have it on Friday and Saturday, but it didn't seem worth it with only toys and decorative items left. Plus, it was the hottest day of the summer and very uncomfortable to be sitting in a hot garage all day.
I plan to donate the rest of our items to charity, and I will bring the kids with me to teach them about letting things go and passing them on to the next people who could use them.
