Stay warm this winter

christina's picture

The cold weather is here, so it is time to list some tips for keeping warm. First of all, try to keep the thermostat at 68 degrees in your home. If you feel cold, layer up clothing and wear socks and slippers to fight the chill. This will save mega bucks on your heating bill. A back-up source of heat is a good idea for heating only some areas at a time. Why heat the whole house when you spend most of the time in the kitchen or living room?

"You can't always get what you want"

christina's picture

Although this is a phrase I often tell my children, it is a good reminder for adults also in today's world of over-indulged, gotta-have-it-now hyper consumerism. Our grandparents used to save their hard earned money until they had enough to buy what they wanted, but now with the overuse of credit, people are able to buy things before they can afford it. I believe this is what is leading to our demise.

Spreading environmental messages

My last post was about the idea of spreading ideas and sending messages with imprinted promotional products. I thought I would post about another specific movement that utilizes this principle. "These Come From Trees" is a group that prints stickers with their slogan for the general public to post at will anywhere they see as a potential to save on paper products.

Messages with impact

christina's picture

There are so many subtle ways to get your message across to the general public. Sure, there's the typical postcards, bumper stickers, and business cards. But what about items that people use everyday? What about something they hold in their hand? I suggest personalized pens and pencils as a viable resource for spreading messages. Lingerie Diva is a very classy online store with a wide variety of bras, hosiery, bustiers, sexy corsets, gowns, robes, and much more. I was very surprised by their selection of sexy boots and shoes. There is even a large selection of items for men at very reasonable prices as well. They also have a clearance section and many quality items for under $25.

New year evaluation

christina's picture

The new year is a good time to evaluate finances, insurance coverage, and all banking and stock accounts. Another year has passed and let's face it - we aren't getting any younger. If you don't have a good life insurance policy, take a few minutes and get some life insurance quotes online. This may also be a good time to establish or update your will or living trust. It's not morbid, it's a fact of life. You owe it to your loved ones to have everything in place if anything should happen to you.

Stuff in, stuff out

christina's picture

I have diligently taught my children by my example that Christmas is a great time to donate clothes and toys to charity. First of all, many families who are less fortunate may not be able to afford to spend a lot of money on gifts and I teach compassion when my children think of giving their toys to other children in need.
